File storage, search, subscriptions and document AI in a six-service full-stack application.
The application
A personal cloud-storage platform for managing files and searching their contents. I led the project and defined the interfaces between its six services: authentication, file storage, search, administration, subscriptions and AI.
Architecture and implementation
The backend uses Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy and PostgreSQL, with a React interface and Docker Compose for the development environment. JWT authentication supplies identity across the application.
I implemented the subscription workflow: Free/Pro plans, plan changes, cancellation of automatic renewal, simulated payments and transaction history. Feature access depends on the user’s plan.
Document AI
The AI service adds RAG-based document summarisation, automatic tags on upload and duplicate-file detection. Subscription level and AI usage quotas govern access to these features. The project combines application architecture with the details of file workflows and entitlement checks.
